Along with the splendid Dedicated to Peter Kürten, this is probably Whitehouse's most celebrated work. As varied as power electronics is ever likely to get (ahem), this is something worth listening to for all fans of the odd.
Like promised here is another Haus Arafna, this time their second album "Children of God" which offers a similar sound to the one in the previous post, I guess that if you liked "butterfly" you'l like "children of god", their works are pretty consistent in style and quality and usually the people that like one will like all of their works.
A piece of crust that has all the desolation and hatred that crust should have; this is a classic within the genre, and rightfully so. Even those who aren't particularly fond of punk at all should check this out, such is the suffocatingly emotional feeling which surrounds it all.
This is Gorguts' best album, provided you like having your mind fucked by some crazy time signatures and odd yet catchy melodies. Although some may come to this album via the Necrophagist-worship band of the same name, the two are incomparable - the album reigns supreme.
Featuring members of the power electronics masters Whitehouse, this is one of the most depraved audio-trips you will ever go on. Much of the lyrical content can be guessed from the names of both artist and album, but this is power electronics of the highest quality.
Skipping out 'Upon The Throne Of Apocalypse', because I'm not as well acquainted with it as I probably ought to be, this proves that some death metal bands can produce sheer quality past their 3rd album (consider Carcass' output past 'Necroticism').
This is Opeth's best album. It shows the seeds of their later progressive tendencies, but not in the overblown proportions that they would be found later on, often to the detriment of the listenability. Contains the monumental 'Demon Of The Fall'.
This was the album that projected The Chasm (from Mexico) onto the international death metal scene. Showing the beginnings of progressive tendencies, as opposed to the doomy death of their first two albums, and indeed their work under the moniker Cenotaph, this is great.
Windir were the pioneers of 'viking' metal (God I hate that tag), and to me, this is their best album. Expansive soundscapes mix beautifully with black metal and folk elements. This is a true masterpiece.
Although they would pioneer the depressive suicidal black metal sound (DSBM) on their full-length debut, this is more standard black metal fare, although it never strays into the dreaded 'derivative' land. The last track is an interesting Absurd cover.
