Guilty Connector - Mother's Bloated Corpse

Well it's time to work on this blog's noise collection!

This is Guilty Connector's Mother's Bloated Corpse and frankly I just grabbed a few of his records a  selected a random one to upload here, but don't let that stop you this his a awesome release, GC his a harsh noise artist that uses handmade syths that he build himself to create all his songs. Stylistically this sounds like any japanoise artist sounds (kinda), but with a lot of metal and punk influences, and this record displays the most obvious evidence of that (apart from the motorhead shirts he use on live shows sometimes), it includes among his noise works a Black Sabbath cover... remix... well a noise thing of Symptom of the Universe. And that should be enough to sparkle your curiosity, if not... try it anyways (if you like noise that is).

Akira Yamaoka - Silent Hill 1-4 OST (1999-2004)

The first few games of the Silent Hill series are considered some of the best horror games around, and the soundtracks are considered some of the best in gaming, period. To match the hellish world of the games, sound designer for the first seven Silent Hill games Akira Yamaoka created a mostly ambient industrial soundtrack, broken up with some extremely emotional rock songs. These four official soundtracks (for Silent Hill 1 through 4) focus mainly on the more melodic side of the games' music, which can usually be found in cutscenes and the like.

However, Silent Hill mega-fan Fungo has created complete soundtracks for the first three games which focus more on the in-game tracks, and as such are much more ambient (and in the case of Silent Hill 3, much better than the official soundtrack). I've uploaded the first four official soundtracks here, but I haven't uploaded the complete soundtracks as you can download them for free from Fungo's website: Silent Hill Media (because he's put a ton of work into them and you should totally check it out).

Draconian - Where Lovers Mourn [2003]

Gothic doom. Oftentimes it's said to be a form of music that one either loves or hates - I'm going to challenge that idiom as I am decidedly indifferent to it. This is one of the better albums in the style I've heard, but to be honest, I could quite happily go without it. Comes on a request.

Drudkh - Forgotten Legends [2003]

Drudkh are barely the BFFs of many black metal fans. Sure, they may take heavy influence from Burzum, but they also started all this pine-scented bullshit, albeit indirectly. Still, don't shoot the messenger; taken outside of any contextual flaws, this is a damn fine atmospheric black metal album. Get it.

Haus Arafna - Butterfly [2003]

A great album by a great power electronics band, no more description needed. If you like the genre or you want to try it I strongly recommend this, isn't too harsh, isn't too noisy but retains the disturbing/shocking factor of the genre. Expect more from this band during the rest of the week.

Sleep - Dopesmoker [2003]

Behold the masterpiece of stonner metal that was missing around here!

With this I present you the single most epic weed song of all time. So huge that when the record label at the time it was supposed to be released originally, refused to do it without splinting the song, Sleep members fought each other so bad that ended up disbanding. And if the song was that important to them who are you to say something bad about it?

Anaal Nathrakh - When Fire Rains Down From The Sky, Mankind Shall Reap As It Has Sown EP [2003]

This EP of Anaal Nathrakh's is the release of their that I'm least familiar with, but I know it well enough to know that it adheres to their high standards. It shows the start of a shift towards a cleaner, more DM-influenced sound.

Prostitute Disfigurement - Deeds Of Derangement [2003]

This is the sort of brutal death metal that I am most likely to enjoy. It is not slamming, rather, it is rather technical, and very melodic for BDM. There are also *hooks* in the songs, and even some repeated motifs that could be called choruses. Nonetheless, it's a quality album, although it's far from my favourite.

LIK - Må Ljuset Aldrig Nå Oss Mer [2003]

LIK (Lekamen Illusionen Kallet) are an interesting proposition - blending black metal with elements of depressive rock and folk music (although the folk element is very slight), they broke up a while back after making this album, but reformed in 2010 and released another album earlier this year. This is the closest of their albums to pure black metal.

Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Altered States Of America [2003]

Right, I'm definitely not uploading a tracklist for this one! This is the release with the second shortest average track length (of roughly 12 seconds) that I know. 100 tracks in 20 minutes. Insane. Get it.

Negură Bunget - 'N Crugu Bradului [2003]

Negură Bunget from Romania have long been one of the forerunners of the folk/black metal scene, although their implementation of Romanian folk into the BM sound is somewhat different from the normal implementation of Scandinavian or Teutonic folk offered by most of the scene. This is a good example of that, coming before their breakthrough album, 2006's 'Om'.
